Our Visit to Yip Hong's Dim Sum

3140 Preston Ave S, Saskatoon

Cuisine: Chinese

Date: Dec 29, 2022

Spent: $15 per person (average)

This is our second visit and we were on a mission to try new dishes.

What we ordered:

Pan Fried Chinese Turnip Cakes Pan Fried Chinese Turnip Cakes $4.75 (left)
Pan Fried Shrimp Rolls $6.25 (right)

The turnip cakes were very well-seasoned. We voted this as our best dish for this visit. The pan fried shrimp rolls were also delicious, slightly crunchy skin and succulent prawns inside. Both dishes had three pieces on each plate.

Shrimp & Chives Dumplings Shrimp & Chives Dumplings $6.25

Shrimp tasted fresh but there were few chives in each dumpling. Nevertheless, this is still a good dish.

Steamed Fish Roe & Scallop Dumplings Steamed Fish Roe & Scallop Dumplings $6.25

Despite the name, these dumplings had shrimp fillings and fish roes and a small scallop as topping. The skin of the dumpling is slightly thick and didn't have a good bite to it. We rated this dish the lowest in our tastiness scale for this visit.

Steamed Cream Buns Steamed Cream Buns $5.50

Each bamboo basket comes with three small buns. The oozy filling is sweet and slightly salty.

Yip Hong's robot This is the cute robot that delivered our food to us. We just need to unload the tray ourselves and press the button to allow it to return to its base when we are done.

The restaurant was rather busy when we were there but waiting time was reasonable. Each table will get a complimentary pot of hot jasmine tea and cold water shortly after being seated. We placed our order through the QR code but we saw the waitress taking orders manually as well.
